Founded in September 2010 the Asia Cloud Computing Association is a member driven, Asia focused non-profit organization with a mission to accelerate adoption of cloud computing in the region. Its' membership includes a diverse profile of very influential cloud providers, cloud consumers and government cloud stakeholders, working together to provide thought leadership for cloud computing in Asia and to remove obstacles to adoption.
Australia: Additions to gov't. cloud panel
The Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) has added 14 new approved suppliers for its DC as a Service panel including AAPT and Dimension Data. Suppliers now number 49.
- AGIMO says the whole-of-govt desktop panel has saved the govt AUD27 million (USD27.7 million). 90 agencies have used the panel to buy AUD120 million (USD123 million) worth of computers. The whole-of-govt DC panel has saved the govt AUD24 million (USD24.7 million). AGIMO has started work on a replacement agreement with Microsoft for when its contract with govt expires in Jun 2013.
- Australia.gov.au has 1.9 million citizen accounts, with 1.3 million linked through Centrelink, Child Support, Medicare, eHealth, and Veterans Affairs.
- Environment Dept plans to set up an ICT service providers’ panel with tender doc request closing by 25 Mar.
